We are writing to you on behalf of this organizing committee for International Women’s Day Ottawa. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at the Horticulture Building. Our theme for 2018 is “Hashtags & Beyond” as a way to highlight the recent waves of silence breakers and the worldwide impact it continues to have.
This year also marks our tenth year anniversary, a time to reflect on the past but also on the future of the International Women’s Day celebrations in the National Capital Region. This event has attracted over 400 attendees in past years.
International Women’s Day Ottawa is a free event organized by a team of volunteers and a coalition of several non-profit organizations including Amnesty International Canada, Inter Pares, Oxfam Canada and Planned Parenthood, to name a few. Our event is held in an accessible building and child care is offered during the program.
This dynamic and inspiring event honours women’s rights and the achievements of women’s organizations in the community. There will be a special main event, as well as a celebration of women activists in the National Capital Region through the highly anticipated annual Femmy Awards. The event will be followed by a reception with free snacks and a cash bar for advocates of feminism to mingle with local, national and international organizations hosting information tables.
We wish to continue providing a free, fun and inspiring event at the Horticulture Building and we hope that you, as a strong supporter of women’s rights, will consider a financial contribution to our event! We offer free tabling to our coalition members but there will be a 25$ fee to any other organization that wish to table at this event. If you wish to reserve a spot, contact us at iwdottawa@gmail.com before February 27th, 2018.

Nous avons besoin de votre appui!
Nous vous écrivons au nom du comité organisateur de la Journée internationale des femmes à Ottawa. Cette année, l’événement se tiendra le jeudi 8 mars 2018 à partir de 18h à l’Édifice d’Horticulture du parc Lansdowne. Notre thème pour 2018 est « Hashtags & au-delà » afin de souligner les briseuses de silences et l’impact mondial qu’elles continuent de générer.
Cette année marque également notre dixième anniversaire, un temps pour réfléchir au passé, mais aussi aux futures célébrations de la Journée internationale des femmes dans la région de la capitale nationale. Par les années passées, cet événement a attiré plus de 400 participants.
La Journée internationale des femmes à Ottawa est un événement gratuit organisé par une équipe de bénévoles et un regroupement de plusieurs organisations à but non lucratif incluant Amnistie internationale Canada, Inter Pares, Oxfam Canada et Planned Parenthood, pour en nommer quelques-unes. Notre événement se tient dans un bâtiment accessible et un service de garde est offert durant le programme.
Cet événement dynamique et inspirant rend hommage aux droits des femmes et aux accomplissements des organisations féministes dans la communauté. Il y aura un programme principal spécial en plus d’une célébration de militantes féministes de la région de la capitale nationale à travers la remise des très anticipés Prix Femmy. L’événement sera suivi d’une réception avec des collations gratuites et un bar payant où les participants pourront aller à la rencontre des organisations locales, nationales et internationales tenant des kiosques d’informations.
Nous souhaitons continuer longtemps à offrir un événement gratuit, amusant et inspirant à l’édifice d’Horticulture et nous espérons que vous considérerez, en tant que sympathisants et défenseurs des droits des femmes, effectuer une contribution financière à notre événement! Nous offrons également des places de kiosques gratuites pour les membres de notre réseau d’organisateurs. Il y aura des frais de 25$ pour les autres organisations qui veulent une table à l’événement. En plus de contributions monétaires, nous acceptons également les contributions en nature telles que des collations pour nos invités. N’hésitez pas à nous contacter pour obtenir plus d’informations sur comment nous appuyer.
